Wave Solder Machine Operator

Summary: Operated a wave solder machine that solders through-hole

components to a printed circuit board

Required experience, education, and attributes of a successful candidate

• Experience in electronics manufacturing industry

• Must be proficient in English including the ability to communicate with all departments

in the company. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to

three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent

combination of education and experience.

• Clear understanding of safety procedures, lead and lead-free processes

• Organized, detailed and dedicated

• Uses time efficiently

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and efficiently

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to

moving conveyer belt, mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The

employee is occasionally exposed to toxic chemicals. The noise level in the work

environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain wave solder profiles for soldering through-hole

components onto a PCB.

• Observe machine operations and evaluate product quality thereby

ensuring conformity to standards.

• Monitor the product temperature using the available tools and

measuring instruments. Adjust wave solder temperature if needed.

• Read work instructions.

• Load temperature profiles from the wave solder console.

• Select the appropriate flux from the assembly instructions.

• Monitor and adjust the gravity of the flux using the available tool

• Basic maintenance of the wave solder equipment.

• Monitor and remove oxidized solder from the solder pot (Dross)

• Assists with all other related special projects, as required.
